Srila Prabhupada's Seven Purposes
- To systematically propagate spiritual knowledge to society at large and to educate all peoples in the techniques of spiritual life in order to check the imbalance of values in life and to achieve real unity and peace in the world.
- To propagate a consciousness of Krishna, as it is revealed in Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad Bhagavatam.
- To bring the members of the Society together with each other and nearer to Krishna, the prime entity, thus developing the idea within the members and humanity at large, that each soul is part and parcel of the quality of Godhead (Krishna).
- To teach and encourage the sankirtana movement, congregational chanting of the holy names of God, as revealed in the teachings of Lord Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu.
- To erect for the members and for society at large, a holy place of transcendental pastimes dedicated to the personality of Krishna.
- To bring the members closer together for the purpose of teaching a simpler, more natural way of life.
- With a view toward achieving the aforementioned purposes, to publish and distribute periodicals, books and other writings.
The founder of the Society is Chitsukhananda Das. Chitsukhananda Das joined the Church of Divine Spirit in September of 2007 and established Sri Krishna Chaitanya Theological Society as a means of promoting the message "Unity through Diversity". One of the objectives of the Society to have all religions come together and discuss how to make unity in diversity. This message is a keystone of the Church of the Divine Spirit.
We believe that the spiritual values of Buddha, Jesus Christ and Krishna can be promoted from a philosophy of unity. It is the strength in unity that will sustain the spiritual world of man in the coming years of religious decay. Let us remember the story in Aesop's Fables of the father of many children with the bundle of sticks. When the father asked his children to break the bundle of sticks wrapped in a bag, none of them could do it. But, when they removed the sticks from the bag, and tried one by one, the sticks were easily broken. So this is the strength in unity. If we are bunched up, we can never be broken, but when divided, then we can become broken very easily. Therefore, it is beneficial for all spiritual paths that promote love and devotion to God to come together and support each other. We are the shining light that will guide the world into the coming age of peace and harmony.
Aims and Ideals
As set forth by Chitsukhananda Das, Founder
To open our mind and hearts to the reality of the divine oneness through the devotion to God and chanting the holy name. This allows an intensely personal understanding of God found within Bhakti traditions of Hinduism as taught by Sri Chaitanya deva.
To point out the common foundations and complete harmony between the original yoga taught by Bhagavan Krishna, Buddha and the original Christianity as taught by Jesus Christ, and show that these principles of truth are the basic foundation for all true religions.
To reveal that the path to enlightenment is attained by a gradual progress. This path is obtained by a constant desire and action toward self realization with the help of scriptural evidence, theistic conduct, daily chanting the holy name of God and the taking of prasadam (i.e., vegetarian food offered ceremonially to Krishna) to open ones heart to divine bliss.
To assist all living beings in their progressive march to the spiritual realm transcending the problems of brith, death, old age and disease also known as samsara.
To carry out the order of Lord Chaitanya, that all of his followers become enlightened and spread Krishna Consciousness to every town and village. Anyone who sincerely with purity of heart and mind, follows the teachings of Lord Chaitanya is qualified to be the leader in the society and is considered to be Spiritual Master or Guru.
To spread the message that all Gods creations have the opportunity to obtain enlightenment of Krishna Consciousness including animals, plants, minerals and planets .
