The Medicine Wheel

The most important ability in Shamanism is to make contact with realms of spirit through places in Nature that can serve as doorways for teaching and healing. You must establish a sacred space in nature so that you can establish conduits to the various levels of the nonphysical worlds for whatever issue is at hand.  The Medicine Wheel has that power and is that conduit.

A Medicine Wheel is a physical manifestation of psychic energy and provides a communication channel with our self and our spirit guides.  This channel allows us to better SEE what is going on within us. It is a wheel of protection and enables us, and allows us, to gather surrounding energies into a focal point and to commune with Spirit, Self and Nature (ALL elemental forces)........Creation!  The Wheel clears our "Vision," to see exactly where we are and in which areas we need to develop in order to manifest our dreams and realize our soul path.  

A Medicine Wheel is an ancient tool used for self-discovery, prayer, and ceremony that stems from indigenous cultures. There are Medicine Wheels in the Four Corners region of the USA, in Peru, in Mexico and in England. The original Medicine Wheels were permanent structures. There is a large Medicine Wheel at Big Horn amidst the mountains of Wyoming on a ridge called Medicine Mountain.

As the name indicates, the Medicine Wheel consists of rocks that are placed in a very specific circular fashion. Stonehenge in England is a standing stone Medicine Wheel.  The circle of stones is used for prayer, ceremony, magic and healing. The energy within the wheel, especially while performing ceremonies, is very intense.

The wheel is an integral part of our healing center and it is a tool for healing, communion with the Source and for teaching. Sun Bear, wrote Dancing with the Wheel and Medicine Wheel: Earth Astrology, co-authored with Wabun Wind. Sun Bear was the founder and Medicine Chief of the Bear Tribe Medicine Society. He is the one who really brought the Medicine Wheel to our current culture. Through years of study and meetings with Rio Grande Valley Light Warriors and Seekers, we founded our own Clan in 2011, "the Light Warriors Clan".  The purpose of the light warriors clan is re-created the Medicine Wheel to incorporate Sun Bear's teachings and other teachings we learned from many other Medicine Teachers.

You can build a Medicine Wheel.  The instructions for building a Medicine Wheel is in  Sun Bear's book or go online and print out a diagram. You can work with a traveling Medicine Wheel. It doesn't matter what size your Wheel is 7 inches or 70 ft... Size doesn't matter. It is all about intention. You should always have intention when building the Wheel . You need 36 stones. You can use river rocks and paint these stones to depict the energy of that particular position within the Wheel. The Medicine Wheel we built is approximately 16 feet in diameter in size as it is built outdoors.

To Build a Medicine Wheel, you must follow very specific instructions and rituals. Prayers are said, sage,copal and other smudge products are burned, and songs are sung. Each and every one of the 36 stones has a story and significance. These rituals vary in length. 

Once the Medicine Wheel is complete, we walk the Wheel in a very specific way, in a very specific order and direction. As we walk the Wheel, we stop at specific spots on the wheel to contemplate and receive healing from the spirit guides and nature energies.  During these meditations we gain insight and a greater perspective of ourselves and our lives.

Each position on the Wheel has astrological significance that is based on earth-centered astrology. Each mediation spot on the wheel has an animal associated with it. This animal brings a teaching and medicine to you as you sit in the mediation spot. Animals appear in our lives to bring us a message and remind us where we are and what we are doing with our lives . . . or not doing in our lives. Sun Bear has defined detailed Spirit Guides for each of the more specific directional points in between each cardinal point, and these can be useful to know when your life's path is somewhere in between.

What is a Clan?
A clan is a group of people united by actual or perceived kinship and descent. Even if actual lineage patterns are unknown, clan members may nonetheless recognize a founding member or apical ancestor. The kinship-based bonds may be merely symbolical in nature, whereby the clan shares a "stipulated" common ancestor that is a symbol of the clan's unity.

What is a Light Warrior?
There are many definitions for the words "light" and "warrior":
Light =  

1.   A form of radiant energy.
2.   A source of illumination or an illuminating agent
3.   An exceptional leader, example, or luminary

Warrior =

1.   One who is willing to take action.
2.   One who is engaged in or experienced in battle.
3.   One who is engaged aggressively or energetically in an activity, cause, or conflict:

Thus a Light Warrior is... An experienced or well trained individual who is willing to take action as an agent of illumination.

What is the Light Warrior Clan?

The Light Warrior Clan includes artists, teachers, counselors, intuitive healers, spiritual leaders, and visionaries. We  are old souls who have come to this life to help bring change for the Earth and Humanity in 2012.

In preparation for this new era we are experiencing what has been called, "The Time of Trial on Earth," "Judgment Day,"The Time of Great Purification," "The End of this Creation," "The Quickening," "The End of Time as We Know It," and "The Shift of the Ages." It is foretold that the completion of the Precession brings regeneration of Earth, offering awakening to all open, willing hearts. Many peoples spoke of these last days of the Great Cycle, including the: Maya, Hopi, Egyptians, Kabbalists, Essenes, Qero elders of Peru, Navajo, Cherokee, Apache, Iroquois confederacy, Dogon Tribe, and Aborigines.

We are drawn together by our common interest to be a launching pad for 2012 change. We seek to heal ourselves and recover our own Soul Nature.  We endeavored to help others do the same, teaching them to face their fears and traumas and heal and release them not only holistically but creatively. We are here to help the Children of Light heal themselves, whether they are just 8 yrs old or 100. As adult Indigo Children, we usher in a New Earth based on Love, Compassion, Peace, shared abundance, and higher consciousness for all. As Indigo Adults we are here to channel energy and Light for the upliftment of others, acting as bridges from higher energies to a level that even spiritual beginners can access. Although our clan members are highly individual and sometimes very opposite in nature, we have learned to use our skills and talents to complement each other without competing or blurring together.

Music, dance, drama, and all forms of creative expression can be transformative for the artist and the viewer. You will learn  "Transformation Art" by making of clay vessels, drawings, paintings (etc.), or 3-dimensional objects that by their very creation cause a release of pent up emotion or trauma energy. This art form allows you to recover energy or consciousness,  lost during Life's impossible-to-tolerate moments. Transformation art is a shamanic act of clearing one's own Soul by co-creating with something greater than the Self. This is accomplished (in part) through a process of conscious and intentional connection with the higher realms of Spirit, the flow of Creation, and our own inner Being before and during the creative process.

You will support some elements of sacred activism, even if only by bringing in new high and vital information. You are about to refine, focus and actualize your true calling unlike ever before. This is business anchored in the highest energy, now available to everyone, animal to angelic and elemental forces, to the mankind, vortex places and events synchronistically magnetized perfectly to you.
