Central Medical International

CMI Hospital is an in-network provider for American Medical Services and BUPA.  Hospitalizations, Surgeries or Emergency Visits that require more than a 23 hour stay can be direct billed to your insurance company.  Once we obtain medical benefits from your insurer, you will only be responsible for your deductible.  You may be asked to leave a credit card "check-in" until benefits are verified.

Located in Matamoros Mexico, Central Medical International is a new high tech facility that is a in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield and other American carriers. We have partnered with CMI Hospital creating a Concierge Service to assist you located a physician, scheduling the appointment, making sure you have all necessary documentation, and most importantly, escorting you across the border to the Hospital. We will pick you up at one of our local airports, Harlingen or McAllen, then facilitate your trip across the border to CMI Hospital. If you are driving to our location or live here locally, you will be directed to one of our intake facilities and your process will begin there.

The following information will assist you with your insuance questions.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield Healthcare Coverage

Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies nationwide provide healthcare benefits across the country and around the world.  With access to the care you need and when you need it -- Blue Cross and Blue Shield policy holders can have peace of mind when at home or traveling abroad, these include BlueCard Worldwide when traveling outside the U.S. and Blue Worldwide Expat when working/living outside of the U.S.

BlueCardŽ Worldwide - When Traveling Outside of the U.S.

BlueCard WorldwideŽ provides Blue Cross and Blue Shield members with access to a network of traditional inpatient, outpatient and professional healthcare providers around the world.  The program includes a range of medical assistance and claim support services for members traveling or living in countries outside their Home Plan service area.

When You Need Healthcare Outside The U.S.

  1. Always carry your Blue Cross and Blue Shield identification card.
  2. Check with your Blue Cross and Blue Shield company before leaving the U.S. because your health care benefits may be different outside the U.S.
  3. If you need emergency medical care, go to the nearest hospital. Call the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center at 1.800.810.BLUE (2583) or call collect at 1.804.673.1177 if you're admitted.
  4. If you need non-emergency inpatient medical care, you must call the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center. The Service Center will facilitate hospitalization at a BlueCard Worldwide hospital or make an appointment with a doctor. It is important that you call the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center in order to obtain cash-less access for inpatient care except for your usual out-of-pocket expenses (e.g., deductible, coinsurance). The Service Center is staffed with multilingual representatives and is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  5. Call your local BCBS company for pre-certification or prior authorization, if necessary. Refer to the phone number on the back of your card.
